Dear Mr. Burke,
I wish to express my condemnation of your treatment of Vigga, the orca who remained captive at Six Flags Marine World in Vallejo, California. Vigga was captured in Iceland in 1980 and since the death of her companion Yakka in 1997 was lonely and bored. She died an unnecessary death this year.
Please do not replace Vigga with another orca. Keeping whales and dolphins in captivity is archaic and increasingly unprofitable, as more people become enlightened about its inherent cruelty. The most successful aquarium in North America is the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California, which only has models and interactive videos of whales and dolphins. Therefore, until you state publicly that you will not keep another orca captive, I won't visit any Six Flags amusement park.
